Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer $156 000 - $138 000 Process Control?
Work closely with engineers and consultants to coordinate the design and manage the implementation, configuration and planning of Modicon PLC and Citect SCADA systems. Capital improvement projects relate to control systems equipment and electrical/power equipment, and as such will include substation upgrades, switchgear refurbishment, and installation of new PLC systems. You will also be expected to use RCA to investigate and mitigate electrical and control systems failures. There will also be a strong focus on Process Improvement and Business Improvement.
This role is residential. The operation is a multi-million dollar development run by a major mining house. They have a number of other sites in the vicinity which are currently undergoing large expansions and upgrades. Once these expansions are intergrated, they’ll be looking for engineers from their current site to come on board in leadership positions, which gives you the opportunity of a quick promotion into a more managerial role.
To be suitable for the position, you must have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. You also need to have had at least six years post-graduate experience, the last few years of which must have been gained within a mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry environment.

Electrical Engineer $143 000 - $129 000 Sea change?
Located in a beautiful location close to the coast, this job has the benefits of varied work and big projects, whilst being able to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Aside from revamping and implementing RCM through the development of effective life cycle management programs, you’ll complete DCS upgrades on plant equipment, such as kilns, and recovery and power boilers. Minor projects will include the likes of sizing, selection and installation of electric motor / variable speed drive combinations. Additionally, you’ll have responsibility for maintenance and improvements of the site’s power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, and motor and VSD specification and procurement.
Although I’m sure you’ll agree the work looks interesting, it is the lifestyle that is the real draw card for this role. The fact that the town is good-sized is a definite added benefit. Throw in the fact that this role is vacant because the previous engineer was promoted (after only 12 months in the job) and it is clear that this is an unusual opportunity.
To progress to interview, you require a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and at least four years experience in a mining environment. Other necessities include experience with HV and control systems, particularly ABB drives.

Senior Electrical Engineer $146 000 - $133 000 - Residential
In this project engineering role, your responsibilities will include budgeting, contractor management, technical planning, and project life cycle forecasting. Perform risk assessments and HAZOP studies. Projects are large and multi-disciplinary, and will require close liaison with engineers from other departments. Manage electricians and junior engineers, ensure all new projects are integrated appropriately into existing site infrastructure, and guarantee all appropriate standards and safety regulations are met.
The role is ideally suited to someone with experience in projects who wants to become an expert in their field. How so? Well, the projects start in the tens of millions – which gives you something to sink your teeth into, particularly if your previous experience has been with projects less than $1 million in value – and the client has a strong professional development program, so if you ever thought about getting qualifications in project management or obtaining chartered status, now’s the time.
To be considered for the position, you need to possess a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. You must also have had at least five years post-graduate experience, ideally in a project role. This experience needs to have been obtained in a mining or heavy industry background.

Senior Process Control Engineer $147 000 - $ 135 000
Focussing specifically on project control, this senior position will see you running a team and acting as a mentor for juniors and graduates. You’ll be responsible for SCADA, PLCs, and VVF systems maintenance, support, and new installations. Additionally, you’ll be developing electrical procedures, standards and recommendations, writing functional specifications for equipment to be monitored by SCADA, and planning maintenance and shutdown works. There will also be commissioning duties and opportunities to take over the Superintendent’s role when he is off site.
Benefits of working for this company – aside from just having their name on your CV, which is benefit in itself - include subsidised housing and utilities, flights home every year, a shares program, and study assistance. Because the department you will be working in is large, there is plenty of room to move and progress into higher roles.
The client is looking for a degree-qualified electrical engineer with about five years experience in electrical engineering. It is necessary for you to have had the bulk of this experience within a mining or minerals processing company. You also need to have had experience with SCADA, PLC and VVVF.
